popularity in the early 1970s as the "angry young man" of Bollywood cinema, and has

playback singer, film producer and television presenter, and was an elected member

Keith

This movie happens to be one of my favorite movies that i can watch over and over again. It is about a high school senior , Natalie ( Elisabeth Harnois), who believes she has her life figured out untill happening upon Keith ( Jesse McCartney), a troubled and unpredictable teen who begins to alter her perspective in ways she never thought possible.

The story line of the movie is very gripping and left me thinking about it for days. The story line was also very cliche and is well known to most, but it is told in a completely different way compare to movies that are similar. I like how the movie is independent and is not a big hollywood hit. I find that the independent films contains more details and uniqueness compare to the big hollywood movies. Like for instance, every detail in Keith contributes something to the story and that everything in it has a meaning. This movie literally makes you appreciate life even more.

The acting surprised me. I thought that since Jesse McCartney starred in the movie, i thought it was going to be a gong show by seeing him fail miserably. But it was really shocking not being able to realize Jesse McCartney as himself because he played his character very well by his facial gestures, phrasing, accent, and so on.

Therefore, I give this movie 9.5/10.

HALLOWEEN VERSUS DIWALI

Hey Guys:
HAPPY HALLOWEEN DAY.
Today I am going to tell you something regarding a festival in India which is exactly the
same as Halloween. The name of the said festival of India is " DIWALI ". Both festivals
are same; the reasons are simple. Halloween is all about fun. Pure, untainted fun for all age
groups with very little stress. Diwali is also all and pure fun. As Halloween is completely
devoid of religious affiliation, same is Diwali, which is celebrated in India with great pump
and show by all sects of the Indian Society viz. Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and even
Christians. Both the festivals teach the lesson of Secularism. As Halloween is the fetival of
decorations, same is the Diwali. Here we enjoy lot of Candies, there in India, its all the way
sweets which are widely distributed amongst each other and lot of fire works. Halloween
signifies the victory of good over evil, Diwali also signifies the same.

And Halloween Day is the birthday of my Grandson also. So, it is double celebrations for
me. You all are cordially invited to attend the birthday party of my grandson today at
7.00 pm at my residence 9, Landon Drive, Spruce Grove.

I watched this Korean series a long time ago and it was very good. I don't really remember everything that happened in this series, but I do remember some parts were very touching/sad and I cried a lot. The main character he gets very good looking later on in the movie. I recommed this movie to any who likes to watch romance/drama movie.

Billy Talent

Billy Talent III

Canadian Punk and Alternative rock band, Billy Talent has released their third album(technically fourth because Billy Talent released a album when they were formerly called Pezz) called, "Billy Talent III"on July 14, 2009. Their success to the previous albums (Billy Talent and Billy Talent II) have made the band even more popular than before, and this album was received nice reviews from their fans when the album came out.
I thought their third album was nicely done just like their first and second albums, and the song lyrics are dark themed and very deep.
However, I didn't think that their third album was better than their previous albums because the songs weren't very "catchy" this time around.
Overall, this album was a success though because it still has lots of good qualities.
I give it 8 out of 10.

Billy Talent is composed of:
Benjamine Kowalewicz- lead vocals
Ian D'Sa- lead guitar, vocals
Jonathan Gallant- bass Guitar, backing vocals
Aaron Solowoniuk- drums, percussion

One of the songs from Billy Talent III: Devil On My Shoulder

One of the songs from Billy Talent II: Red Flag

One of the songs from Billy Talent: River Below

Death Note

"If you had a power to kill anyone by writing their name in the notebook, would you do it?"

The film adaptation from one of the best selling comic in Japan, follows a story of a student named, Light Yagami.

Light Yagami is one of the smartest highschool student who is about to graduate from his highschool. Light is athletic and is popular by many other students, and he believes that the justice always triumphs over the evil criminals. However, Light's sense of justice is betrayed when he hears that a man who murdered people has not been prosecuted because of unjust trial system while he was in a pub. Feeling betrayed, Light leaves the pub when he finds a note on the floor that says "Death Note" on it. Light doesn't believe it at the first, but when he finds out that he can kill people on the death note just by writing people's name on it, he decides to become the justice by killing criminals on his deathnote. Soon, Light is met up with a god of death who originally dropped the death note and the god tells Light to use the death note freely. Light's deed is found out when he is faced with a famous international detective named "L," delcares Light's whereabouts. The war of Light vs. L, justice vs. justice begins in this movie.

I personally thought they changed the a lot of contents from the comic book to the movie so I wasn't really happy about it because the placing of each parts were quite different and some of the parts were not following the comic book.

I felt that the movie was rushing too much because the comic book's pacing but that is what happens when a book is transferred to a movie, so I thought it was well done as a movie adaptations.

I thought the characters were being true to the comic book counter part so it was very well done.

Also the movie the was following the basic summary very well, therefore the whole movie really felt right.

I recommend this movie to anyone who are interested in suspense and fictional movies.

Girl Who Leapt Through Time

"Time waits for no one."
Makoto Konno is a female high school student who is very carefree and wants to enjoy her life. One day, Makoto accidentally receives the power to travel through time and then she discovers her power few days after she had received it. Makoto doesn't question how she received her power, instead she uses her power to make her life easier such as getting hundred percent on her exams or getting out of troubles. However, every time she uses her powers for herself, the negative effects are carried over to the others. Realizing the consequences, Makoto tries to fix them but as she does that, she finds out how she got her powers.

Overall, the story was very humorous and entertaining, but it also has serious and heartwarming parts in there as well.
Characters were set out nicely, like how Makoto is a girl that I can relate to because just like her, I want to go back and change the past.
Makoto's friends, Chiaki and Kosuke are very rounded characters as well, so they play the supporting roles nicely.
One part of the movie that was memorable was a scene where Makoto's friend was confessing his love to Makoto but she didn't want to answer him so she kept going back in time to prevent that but the confession scene kept happening over and over again, so I laughed hard at that part. This animated film has received nice reviews from Japan as well as in other countries, and it has won several awards and was recognized as "Animation of the year" on 2007.
This movie was very entertaining and is recommended to anyone who enjoys stories about time travelling.

5 Centimeters Per Second

"They say it's five centimeters per second."
"What do you mean?"
"The Speed at which the cherry blossoms fall... Five centimeters per second."
I must say that I do not watch the movies more than once unless I really like it.
This movie fits that case is one of my favorite movie of all time and I have seen this movie about 4 times.

5 Centimeters Per Second is about people facing against: love, time, and distance.
The director, Makoto Shinkai, usually made science fiction animated films in the past such as "Voices of a Distant Star" and "The Place Promised in Our Early Days," but this time he has made a movie that gives realistic setting in the film. 5 Centimeter Per Second is divided into 3 parts to represent their past and the present.
First Part, Cherry Blossom, is about the meeting of the two elementary schoolers, Takaki and Akari meeting together when Akari transferred to Takaki's elementary school. Because Takaki and Akari both have the same seasonal allergies, they both have to stay in the school during their recess time and this gives them the time to bond together as friends. Soon, they become a very close friends and they stay as close friends throughout the elementary school, however this close friendship ends after they graduate because Akari has to move faraway due to her father's job. When Takaki hears the sad news from Akari, he is saddened but that is also when he realizes feeling towards Akari. After Akari moves away, Takaki decides to write a letter about his love towards her and rides a train to go see her one day on a stormy winter night. Takaki meets up with Akari, however he had lost his letter due to the wind so he could not give her the letter. They spend the night in an abandoned shack talking to each other but when the morning came, Takaki had to leave. Takaki and Akari says their goodbyes, but Takaki would not say how he felt and Akari could not give the letter that she wrote for him either.

Part two, Cosmonaut, is about Takaki's story and his obsession over Akari, and Part three, 5 centimeters per second, is about the distance and the events leading up from the first part of the story.

I have only told the part of the story for the part one but the rest of the story is what makes the whole film beautiful.
The Title also has a deep meaning to the life and the people because in the beginning there is a scene where Takaki and Akari talk about the cherry blossom petals falling, and the director of this film says that the title 5 Centimeters Per Second comes from the speed at which cherry blossom petals fall, petals being a metaphorical representation of humans, reminiscent of the slowness of life and how people often start together but slowly drift into their own separate ways.

Also the theme song, "One More Time, One More Chance" by Masayoshi Yamazaki is used for this film to evoke the realism because this song has been used before in a different movie and it is widely known to Japanese people so it would bring familiar feelings to the audience who have heard this song before.

"One More Time, One More Chance" by Masayoshi Yamazaki
I really enjoyed this film because I could relate to this movie in a way and this movie seemed different to the other movies that I have watched before. Plus the visuals in this movie are stunning and filled with vibrant colors. Also this movie really gave me the inspiration to never miss any chances that I have with my life.
This film is recommended to anyone who enjoys a good story.

Coco Avant Chanel

I saw Coco Avant Chanel over the weekend and i'm actually rather impressed with it. Honestly, I did not go into the theater with very high expectations but left rather satistfied. I somehow managed to drag my boyfriend(which I can describe as a big rugby jock) to see the movie and to my surprise he didn't fall asleep.Overall, I give this movie a solid 7/10.

Without giving too much of the plot away,Coco Avant Chanel is a movie that documents the years before Chanel was established. The foundation of the movie situates around the name "Coco" and how it came to be. Coco's real name is actually Gabrielle. Coco is a nickname that she aquires from singing a song called "Coco" in a cabaret. The cabaret is where Gabrielle makes the connections to realize her dream of fashion and also receive financial support to launch Chanel. This movie gives a whole new meaning to "sugar daddy".

What I loved most about the movie was the irony of Gabrielle's character. Because of unpleasant past experiences with her father, Coco swears off men. She strives to succeed on her own capabilities but somehow uses men to climb the ladder. The most disturbing flaw that I found in the movie was probably by Alessandro Nivola who played "Boy", Coco's main love interest. He was suppose to be an Englishman but whenever he spoke english he would have the most AMERICAN accent! What's up with that?

I believe that the Garneu theater is the only place showing the film in Edmonton. Oh,and I almost forgot to mention that the movie is in french. The fast paced, witty dialogues will probably sound more clever if you can understand.

Coco Avant Chanel trailer

Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity is about a couple dealing with a demonic possession. Micah, a day-trader, and Katie, a student who claims that a ghostly entity has haunted her since her youth, are a young couple that had recently moved in together, and with the resumption of Katie's "haunting" decide to chronicle the experiences on camera, through EVP, and through Ouija boards. The results of these attempts to chronicle the experiences create unforeseen circumstances and outcomes that neither expect to happen. The movie garnered a decent 85% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. I thought that it started out slow, as it had to get through the basics for the storyline/plot but as the movie progressed, the tension got higher and higher until at the very end, when you could not think it could get any higher, releases into an ending you would not at all expect to see. I also give it a rating of 85% and definitely plan on attending the planned sequel.

Hey Guys:

I may tell you that I was a known Stage actor in my native place: Chandigarh,
a beautiful city, capital of Punjab, a province in India. Though Chandigarh has
many open air theaters and auditoriums, but Tagore theatre is the biggest
theatre and most elegantly constructed. It has a big stage, air-condioned green
rooms and a sitting capacity of one thousand. Kuldip Sharma is a well-known
name in Chandigarh theatre circles. I played roles in many plays, mostly
comedians and of a Villian. If you like, I can speak some dialogues in our Class
also. You will be surprised to know to know that we had about 150 shows of one
play named " Suke Pattan " and about 100 shows of a religious play named
"Gin Sach Pale Hoi ". These shows were held in almost all the big cities of my
State as well as in New Delhi, capital of India and also in cities like Mumbai which
is known as Hollywood of India. These shows were usually sponsored by the
Cultural Affairs department of the Government of Punjab and by some big
business houses. I would be happy if I could recite some dialogues in our Class-
room.

Latest Kid flick

In a town where there's nothing to eat but sardines, a boy inventor gets tasty treats to
rain down from the sky.

That's the idea behind Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, a family-friendly animated
movie in hunger-inducing 3D. I went to watch this movie in the Parkland Cinemas, Spruce
Grove, with my grand daughter few days back.

The film is based on Judi Barrett's children's book; the transition from page to screen
involves the usual pile-on of filler, frantic action. The film may be amusing for children
but its real appeal may be to animators and to fans of 3D. Lacking any sort of real ponit,
the movie tries on many different social issues and messages: don't hide your intellect,
beauty is only skin deep, too much junk food is a bad idea, don't look down to immigrants,
don't waste food, listen to mom, believe in yourself.

Too many messages has, in fact, hurt the film.

"Hard & Dirty"

DJ Lisa Lashes is a British Hard-House DJ (born in 1971. She grew up in Holbrooks, Coventry with her parents, her 3 older sisters and 2 brothers). She is known as the “Queen of Hard House”, but she prefers “Queen of All Hard and Dirty” now. Her play style includes hard house, hard trance, psychedelic trance and techno. Lashes plays mainly in England, but also plays around the world including Malaysia, U.S, Republic of Ireland, Canada, South Korea, South Africa, Japan, Australia and China. Lisa Lashes was in Edmonton last month (September 5, 2009). The event took place at Shaw conference and it was called metropolis. I attended this event and it was AMAZING!

Here's a video of Lisa playing live.

DJ Tiesto is another top DJ as well. He is coming to play in Edmonton November 10 2009.

So today I've got a few different artists I'd like to show you, of an almost undefinable genre.

First up, Glen Porter. Porters music contains no lyrics, just instrumentals. I first heard of Glen Porter through a television show aired on OLN called Departures, the show is about a few friends travelling around the world. Many of his songs are played in the background throughout the show, and somehow is the perfect fit to any scenario in the show. One of my favourite songs by Porter is entitled "29 Palms". This song makes you appreciate the little things in music, like a particular guitar riff, a certain drum line, or perfect timing between beats.

Secondly is an artist who has a similar style to that of Glen Porter, only this time in much more of a hip-hop style. This artist is Ratatat. Ratatat's beats contain absolutely impeccable timing, and impressively for music without lyrics, leave you, the listener, feeling the emotion of the song after listening. This is achieved through the stregnth and power of the beats, combined with the many instrumentals surrounding them. If you listen to Ratatat as religously as I, you will notice in many of his songs how much the songs mood, and overall sound can change throughout the duration of the song.

Melrose Place (2009)

Violet Foster, Auggie Kirkpatrick, Ella Sims, Sydney Andrews, Michael Mancini, Lauren Yung, David Breck,
Riley Richmond, Jonah Miller

A beautiful neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. Sydney Andrews, the manager of the elegant apartment was found floating in the courtyard pool. Could it be David Breck? As everyone knows, he recently had a relationship with the landlady, still beautiful in her 40's. Things descended when Ella mentioned the affair only started revenge towards his father, Michael Mancini. Or could it be Ella Sims; the successful publicist. Sydney Andrews threatened to evict and destroy Ella's career after finding out about the leak of her secret? Of what we know, David was last seen entering her apartment, the night of her death. But why is Auggie burning clothes covered in red in a dark back ally? From the looks of it..we have our real suspect.

More exposure, please.

I have a new appreciation for jazz music. Jazz is not a genre you hear everyday or see on music charts in Canada. Lack of exposure makes it difficult to find some good musicians. Winterplay and Nouvelle Vague are two of the very few groups i've discovered in recent years. They are more of the bossa nova genre. Bossa nova is a combination of jazz and samba. It's not instrumental or ballad yet very soothing. The instrumental notes are staccato and vocals are pretty subdued.

Nouvelle Vague, a French band that does mostly covers but in bossa nova style.

Smooth Rhymin'

Shad

Born in Kenya, and raised in London, Ontario, emerges one of my favourite artists and rappers to date, Shad.

Shad isn't your typical rapper. He doesn't rap about gangster life, guns and murder, instead he brings social issues to light through his music.

In a song from his first album, "When This Is Over" comes one of the most emotional songs I have ever heard. The song "I'll Never Understand" portrays Shads view on the Rwandan genocide. The song includes some very personal, deep, heart wrenching poetry from Shads mother and really brings to light the problems they are facing in that region of Africa.

From Shads second album, "The Old Prince", comes a musical masterpiece all wrapped up in one song, "Get Up". This song is about how Shad believes that people need to stand up for what they believe in, and do something about it, nothing can stop you. This song has powerful lyrics combined with an amazing beat consisting of many instruments and an electric keyboard.

Holly's Playlist

1. Phoenix

You may know them from ipod commercials and they are also on a cadillac commercial. Phoenix is an french indie rock band. They have really catchy and upbeat songs that are hard to avoid.

2. Bat For Lashes

Bat For Lashes is a synth-pop band which consists a female artist, Natasha Khan from the UK. My favourite song by Bat For Lashes is Daniel. It has modern 80's sound to it. The music video has a different atmosphere to it which completely grabs your attention.

3. Crystal Castles

I've been listening to this band for quite a while and I never get tired listening to them. Crystal Castles is an experimental electronic band from Ontario, Canada. Their sound is so fresh and new that there is no other band comparable to their unique sound. Every song on their album is completely different which is unlikely for most bands.

ZOMBIELAND

I recently saw the newest zombie movie to hit the big screen, Zombieland, and might I say it was excellent to say the least! This movie stars the likes Woody Harrelson (Tallahassee), and the newest teen actor to hit the big screen, Jesse Eisenberg (Columbus). Zombieland also features a hilarious cameo by famed actor and comedian, Bill Murray.

Zombieland is an impeccable combination of blood, guts, and gore, and some serious laughs. In Zombieland the world is quickly getting taken over by zombies biting innocent human victims, therefor, turning them into zombies. There are few humans spared from becoming zombies, two of them being the main characters in the movie, Tallahassee, and Columbus. Along their journey they discover what it means to truly be alone in the world, who to trust, and how to work with one another.

My exclusive K-Ball rating of this movie would have to be 5/5 *'s. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a hilarious movie, combined with some killer action.

Soul Food

There's something about soul music that is very comforting. Husky vocals add so much depth and screams EXPERIENCE. Some may be blessed with the voice but others get it through years of singing(or smoking). When vocal cords are strained it is best to postpone vocal activity until the tissue has repaired itself. But if you're truly passionate about singing and not just a teeny bopper's idol, you will continue to sing regardless. By singing while healing, the tissue repairs unevenly thus resulting in that sexy husky voice. No sythesizers here, just pure talent. That rawness is the essence to any good soul music.

Noisettes is an indie group from the UK that formed in 2003 but only recently gathered fame from a Mazda commercial. The lead singer Shingai Shoniwa has a soulful voice yet manages to incorporate it into indie rock.

Adele is also another UK artist. She sounds just as amazing live as she does on record.(Her music reminds me of Amy Winehouse minus the narcotics)

Gossip Girl

First row: Rufus, Lily, Dan, Serena, chuck
Second row: Vanessa. Jenny, Nate, Blair

The juiciest gossip about the lives in the upper east side. Lemon squeezed scandals, cat fights and love affairs of those who are rich.

Chuck and Blair are finally together, after everything they went through, the ups and the downs, the smiles and the tears. It was really hard for him to say those 3 words to Blair ( since we all know that he is a player and he would never settle down for anyone, because he does not do commitment). It took him almost 2 years to tell her how he felt. Here is a video of him telling Blair that he loves her.

Lily ( Serena mom) and Rufus (Dan&Jenny dad) are finally getting married after 20 years for loving each other and keeping it a secret. They have a kid name Scott. Rufus never knew about this child because when Lily found out that she was pregnant, her mom told her to leave town secretly. After Lily gave birth to Scott, her mom made Lily give up her first born child because if Lily kept the child, she would have lost her future marrying a rich man. After 20 years, Rufus finally found out about the other child. Rufus was angry at Lily for keeping this a secret. They both went to Boston to look for their child, once they got there, the adoption parents told them that their son had died and they are really sorry (The son that died was not Lily and Rufus's son, it was their own son name Andrew. The adoption parents told them that lie because they did not want to lose him as well.) They both have their own differences, Lily is rich (from her last husband who died after a car accident, Bart Bass) and Rufus is a artist/guitar player. Even though, they always get into small fights and argument, at the end of the day they always remind themselves how much they love one another.
On the day of the wedding, that is when they both found out that their son is still alive...

Seriously, Wondergirls?

Korean entertainment is making its way all around the world these days. Perezhilton.com also featured a few k-pop videos in his posts. Many artists are slowly entering the American music industry and a great example of this is the Wondergirls. The group recently did the opening act for a Jonas Brothers show.

Here is a short clip of an interview with the girls.

Personally, the Wondergirls are not my favorite. I think that there are so many other talented musicians in Korea. Having the Wondergirls as ambassaders of Korean entertainment really undermines what Korea truly has to offer. I don't want people in America to think that the Wondergirls are the best Korea has to offer.

Outsider-fastest rapper in Korea

This is a song that is on my current playlist. Outsider has a record of 17 syllables per second. (skip to about 1:55 to listen to some FAST rapping)

Excellent!

Good work. Your posts are eye-catching and interesting.

Hey all. I have been following a band called the Born Ruffians for some years now, but only recently got back into the habit of listening to them of a regular basis. The Born Ruffians have a very upbeat, happy sound of there own in the indie rock genre. If you're ever looking for something to brighten your spirits, or just want to lay some chill music on the deck, this is the band for you, no doubt about it.

Below are a few songs from the Born Ruffians.

Epik High: Wannabe

Korean hiphop group, Epik High, has released their new single: Wannabe (Subtitled)
Check it out.

The music video is actually doing a parody from a popular Korean monster horror (and satirical) film, "The Host."
The Host is a Korean movie about a monster abducting a girl(sister of the protagonist), and the protagonist and his family had to save his sister from the monster that was living near the bridge of Han river.
The Host was popular in Korea and in other countries as well (America and Canada) and Epik High decided to do a parody of this movie because it was so popular.
I personally thought music video was very fitting to the song because it be being a "wannabe" to a popular movie and the lyrics fit to the music video well.
The lyrics showed that people were always following someone or something, which is called a trend, and that people should not copy the popular that were set by others.
Instead, the music is telling the people to make their own trend and their fashion, and I thought it was brilliant because there are too many people that are "fake" since they are just mindless followers instead of doing what they like to do.
I believe that this song was representing individuality and a individual's quest to find his or her own true color.
As far as the style goes, I thought that their last music video from the album love scream was better than this single though because the tune was nicer and i liked the love theme better than this one.

1 Minute, 1 Second. From the album Love Scream.

However, I thought "Wannabe" was pretty nice and clever. Epik High has toured New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle this year, and I wished I went to their concerts. Hopefully next time though.

Epik High is composed of:
Tablo: Rapper
Mithra: Rapper
Tukutz: DJ

Indie Music Spotlight: The Temper Trap

The Temper Trap is an indie rock band from Australia which formed in 2005. I came across a
movie trailer called " 500 Days Of Summer" and heard one of their songs,"sweet disposition" which was played in the movie trailer. I was then
attached to this unique song. The instrumental in the song is so different and draws your attention from the beginning to the end.
The music video, on the other hand has a cool vibe to it. The video leads you on to an adventure in space. The video does not make any sense to me, but I think that is the point in most music videos.
They are open to your own imagination and thoughts where you can build up your own story to it.

Check out the music video and
the movie trailer for " 500 Days Of Summer" below.
